On Sept 12, CompTIA held a signature event in Chicago at mHub titled “Data Download: Understanding Data Policy”. Our first panel titled “Advertising Adventures” discussed how data is used for advertising, how users can control what is used, and why keeping a free and open internet is so vital. Among the panel speakers, Sheila Colclasure, chief privacy officer of Acxiom was very helpful in laying out that trust is necessary in order for companies to continue using consumer data in a helpful and thoughtful way.

For the first time, Governor Bruce Rauner has proclaimed April 2017 as Information Technology throughout Illinois! In celebration of this new designation, organizations across the state are hosting a variety of events to demonstrate the importance of this great industry and encourage students of all ages to explore a career in this growing field.

CompTIA recently released CyberSeek, an interactive heat map that provides data on the supply and demand of cybersecurity employment throughout the nation. This tool allows policy makers to see the true impact of the educational pipeline and how the talent gap impacts their state or metro area today.
